Communication and Self-Esteem
Overview
Communication is the theme running throughout all of the DELTA Programmes! Research shows us that baby's hearing is well developed in the final trimester of pregnancy. A baby in the womb is exposed to many sounds, but pays particular attention to the mother's voice its tone and patterns of language, so by the time baby is born he or she is already tuned into the rhythms of speech. After birth, babies spend much of their time listening, absorbing and communicating even though they can't yet speak.
Dialogue between parents/adults and baby occurs long before baby produces language. We're going to think about all forms of communication today..
